Reaching Out

Disciples Ministry Center PDF Print E-mail

The Disciples Ministry Center now has Daycare.  With certified staff, computer labs and CCDS qualification, as well as many other programs, the daycare center looks forward to enrolling many new students.

There is a need for supplies for the center.  If you'd like to help, please call 210-822-4345 or 210-364-6668.  We are thankful for everything you have done and we appreciate all you are willing to do to help out.

Dwyer Shelter for the Homeless PDF Print E-mail

The shelter was established to assist people through training in job skills and the appropriate appearance for interviews.  They stay in the shelter until they have jobs and a place to live.  (There are approximately 24 families, 30 women and 30 men in residence at this time.)

They are constantly in need of toiletries, bathroom tissue, twin sheets and blankets, shower curtains, and appropriate clothing for employment interviews.  If you have clothes that fit the bill, please bring them to the church.  We can furnish donation receipts.  Thank you for your help.  Please talk to Robert Estes for further information regarding the shelter.

Many thanks to those who have donated a number of items so far!

The Inman Center PDF Print E-mail

The Inman Center is always in need, and Western Hills chooses to help.  Some of you may not know about the Inman Center.  Below is the website and general information.

Their website: http://www.homelandministries.org/MissionCenters/Inman.htm.

Through the work of Dr. Samuel Guy Inman, Christian Woman's Board of Missions of the Christian Church founded Inman Christian Center in 1913.  A neighborhood based Community Center, Inman seeks to serve the needs of low-income children and families who live near the Center and around the West side of San Antonio.

Western Hills provides supplies and support to this valuable center.

St. PJs Children's Shelter PDF Print E-mail

St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home serves the needs of children and families by providing a safe, nurturing community to heal body, mind and spirit, shape successful adults, and break the cycle of abuse and neglect.  Their motto is "Building a stronger community one family at a time."

St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home was originally founded as an orphanage by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1891.  Today St. PJ’s is both a home to children who have suffered as victims of sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, poverty and broken homes and it is a community counseling and service center for families in crisis.

Robert Estes heads the drive to help those innocent ones the Lord has asked us to watch over.  They request that your prayers be with all the workers and children as the facility is full now with over 100 children.
