About Our Youth

We will be starting the "Send A Kid to Camp" campaign again this year.  We have 27 youth that are eligible to attend camp.  We want to send all our youth to camp if possible.  We have a very active youth group program and camp is an important aspect of their Christian growth.  Western Hills has been wonderful with donations to the youth camp funds for the last couple of years.  Please think about how you can help our youth have the awesome experience of camp.

  • 2007 Summer Mission Trip  ( 0 items )

Western Hills is actively growing its youth program.  In 2007, the youth of WHCC made a trip to the Disciples of Christ Annual conference in Austin as a mission trip.  They worked the conference, as well as participating in outreach ministries in the community.

  • Chi Rho (Grades 6-8)  ( 1 items )

Kids Grade 6-8 are a part of Chi Rho.  Chi Rho is lead by Ashley and Clayton Clower and Lori Garcia.

Chi Rho has grown to include 12 members of the church.  We always have more than 12 because we encourage inviting friends.  This year Chi Rho will attend a mid-winter, summer camp, and a mission trip.

Our meetings are a time for us to share what is going on in our lives, to learn trust, to work as a team, and to be accepting of others.  We are also learning how to be better Christians and to take that with us outside of church.  Our meetings are always fun and filled with laughter.

    Join us Sunday evenings 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
    Snacks are provided.
    Goals for this year:
    1. To raise funds for our mission trip in the summer.
    2. To reach out to the community through Trunk-R-Treat and help with the Angel Food Ministry at our area office.
    3. To learn how to apply a Christian perspective to our lives.
How the Youth are Involved at Church:
    1. Several of the youth serve as acolytes for morning worship.
    2. Many of the youth assist with Children’s worship once a month.
    3. Three of the youth are adult choir members.
    4. Several of the youth are in the Kid's Choir/Dance Troop.
    5. Several of the youth are members of the Adult Bell Choir and/or the Junior Bell Choir.

  • Camps  ( 1 items )

The children of Western Hills Christian Church have the opportunity to attend church camps throughout the year.  The most popular of these camps is the summer camp.  The kids have a great time and here are the highlights from their camp experience:

“The best part about camp was meeting people from other churches and making new friends.” - Nathan

“My favorite part about camp was art time because I have not been able to do any form of art in a long time.” - Antonia

“I met a lot of new people and grew closer to God.” - Nicole

“I really enjoyed the drama group where other campers and I worked together on skits to perform in front of the rest of the camp and parents.” - Kristina

Throughout the week, many of the JYF members were asked how they were doing.  Many responded that they were having a great time and glad that they were at camp.  They all grew in their faith and in new Christian friendships.  Each of them is looking forward to many more camps down the road.  Being a part of this congregation, they have all of the support to grow strong in Christ and teach many others along the way.  You are the ones making everything possible for each of us.  Thank you again for all of your love and support through out the year but, most of all thank you for sending all of us to camp.
