“A Food Ministry With A Servant’s Heart” Angel Food Ministries is sponsored by the BBA and distributes food to all who wish to purchase from them. Angel Food Ministries is a “non-profit, nondenominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States.” For $25.00, a person or family can purchase a load of quality groceries that, if purchased at local retail grocers, would cost upwards of $78.00! This program can really help families and senior citizens who are on a limited budget but, in reality, anyone can take advantage of this great deal. In addition to helping people in need, Angel Food Ministries donates a portion of the proceeds to its various distribution sites. The Disciples Ministry Center (DMC), under the direction of Anita Branstetter, is one of those sites. But Anita needs our help to distribute the food at the DMC. Our youth have been a great asset in this endeavor but they are not always available. So, once a month, the DMC needs 1-3 people to help unload vehicles, sort food products, assemble boxes, and help carry boxes out to cars. We meet at the DMC (sharing space with Woodlawn Christian Church) between 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. on the distribution days and usually finish no later than 10:30 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the community in a way in which almost anyone can participate. Call Anita at the DMC or the church office to volunteer or for more information.
